PER PRESS ASSOCIATION * Masterton, November 12 -Jit the S.M. Court this morning, -"Herbert Walter Jones, charged with tie theft of lOs and a railway ticket *' "from one Philip Juno, at the Cartert&o races, was sentenced to one -■KWth's imprisonment. Evidence -showed that Juno lay down in the ffrass to sleep, and accused went through his pockets. . * .The society for the prevention of cruelty to animals proceeded against John Burnes« for leaving an heifer "by the roadside to starve from Tklonday until Friday. The Society's .Suspector - found the animal unable to walk and in a starving condition * its tor.gue hanging out and practically alive with maggets. Accused was convicted and fined £4 and JCost*.
