A PUBLICAN'S RESPONSIBILITY. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Dunedin, November 5. Mr Widdowson S.M., by convicting John Morrison, licensee of the European Hotel, on a charge of selling liquor to a drunken man, upset Mr Hanlon's point that a master was not liab e for his servants breach of law when the act provides for the servant's punishment He fined defendant 20s and the bar man £5, but did not endorse the license as the landlord had issued strict instructions against selling to intoxicated persons.
