Bobrikoff's gallop over a mile and a quarter in 2'6% at Ricarton on Tuesday morning was one of the finest ever witnessed at headquarters (says the " Times' " Christchurch correspondent). The brilliant son of Finland is in great heart, and can be relied upon to give a good account of himself in whatever races he is started in at the coming meeting. The Auckland correspondent < f the "Weeklv Press" telegraphed on Tuesday night that some of the

northern pencill-rs report excellent double books on the New Zealand Cup and Stewards Handicap, and a fair amount of business straightout on the Cup. The accident to Master Soult served to stop the heavy run on that horse for the Cup, but a few who have backed him solidly show no desire to unload any of their money. The price has now lengthened to 10 to I. I am in a position, to say that all is not right with Bobrikoff for the Cup. He has receded in price to 16 to I. There have been strong enquiries for his stable companion. Downfall, coupled with Bobrikoff for the Stewards Handicap, from wlich it would aDpear that the shorter race, if any, will be Bobrikoff's mission. Heorthan, who recently slightly ricked herself in a gallop, is again at work, and her owner-trainer is hopeful of being able to start her at the approaching meeting. Boutade does < not appear to be doing so well lately, arid in addition to having gone off somewhat, is not moving with her accustomed freedom.
