Hastings Borough Council.
PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE. The Public Works Committee of the Hastings Borough Council met last evening and decided to recommend the council ag follows; — 1. That the whole question of kerbing andcharnelling be deferred. 2. That the applications for street lamps from J. A. Fraser, G Banks and T.J. Davidson be deferred. 3. That the council inspect possible sites for quarries, and that it be an instruction to the overseer to have test holes dug for the council's inspection. 4. That house numbering on the hundred s ; stem be adopted. 5. That Mr A. Speers' application to withdraw his tender for cartage of road metal be granted. FINANCE COMMITTEE. The Finance Committee met and decided to recommend : That consideration of the Napier Gas Company's estimate for the cost of erection of street lamps be deferred. PARKS COMMITTEE The Parks Committee decided to recommend : 1. That the public be notified that the Council are prepared to accept donations of trees for planting in the streets and parks on Arbor Day. 2. That the question of erecting an arc lamp at the band rotunda be deferred.
