SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
COLLAPSE OF A BUILDING
(Received 14, 930 a.m.) Melbourne, April 14.
During a heavy squall a large twostoried frame of a building in course of construction for the Oriental Timber Co. at Geelong, collapsed, and 14 of the 30 men employed on the building, the majority of whom were working on the roof, were injured.
Two of the men named Glees on and Nicholson succumbed. Ten others were taken to the hospital, and three are in a serious condition.
Just prior to the collapse of the building, the foreman decided that it was too dangerous to continue work owing to the high wind, and ordered the men to cease. They were engaged making everything secure when the crash came. A number of men on the ground floor had a miraculous escape, for the toppling structure was blown right over them without injuring any of thetn.
Much difficulty was experienced in rescuing the injured who were jambed among the debris.
