The Appeal Court has reserved judgment in To Ai.au Block. At the Ma-terton Poultry Show today, the North Island Championship in Andalusians was won by R. Bailey, Kareri. Mr H. H. Smith was nominated in- Messrs T. J. Thompson and F. L. Bone. Mr H. Neagle was nominated by Messrs A. A. George and F. i a-sin for the vacancy on the Council. A telegram was received this morning conveying the pleasing intelligence tha r the condition of Fuirbrother, who was injured in the jumpers' Flat Race accident which occurred at Trentham on Wednesday, has improved, and that the doctors hold out hopes ior his recovery. Joe O'lonneil, another Hastings rider who came to grief in the same race, is now out ol danger. A presentation of a purse of sovereigns was made yesterday morning to Mr A. Callcott, of the Agricultural Department, by those wh.i have been associated officially with him during his three years' service in Napier. Mr Callcott left for the South by the mail train this morning, to take up his duties of chief clerk in the Christchurch office of the Department.
