An Editor Prosecuted
(Per Press Association). Christchurcb, Sepamber 18 I Mr Hughie, editor of the Truth is being prosecuted to-day by Mr Mac- ' pherson. Inspector of Dairies. The j Truth published an article by a ( special reporter, in which a shocking ■ I state of certain dairies was described, j Mr Macpherson, with a view to proceed J against the dairymen for breaches of the I Act, went to Mr Hughie and aaked the name of the reporter and the names of the dairies referred to. Mr Hughie refused, and asked that the request be made in writing. He was supplied with requests in writing, but still refused. Contending that the refusal was an offence under the Act, Mr Macpherson took proceedings. The case is unfinished. Later After lengthy argument, the Magistrate said the only person liable to prosecution for refusing to give information was the person connected with the dairy, and dismissed the case. The Crown Prosecutor said the case would be taken to the Higher Court.
