Hastings District School
The usual monthly meeting ef the above. School Committee was held in. the school last evening. Present— Messrs Maddison (chair), Burden, Burton. Hart, Alossman, Ross,. Slewart, and Thomson. An apology was received from Mr Roacli for his absence. It, was decided to allow repairs to remain over for file new committee. The headmaster reported as follows : Attendance.—The attendance is satisfactory, although there is some sickness in the town. All absentees are satisfactorily accounted for. .St<afi.—MLss Staples, ex-pupil leach er, has received an appointment under the Wanganui Board, and lias left the school to take up her lew Unties, it will je necessary to promole the senior trainee lo replace her. Water Supply.—The pressure from the new tanK is much greater than from the old supply, and some of the niucii-wni ii plug-taps leak badly and keep ihi' uorches very untidy. They should ue replaced by high pressure laps. J do not thin* the tan-k.s, as tney are at present would' be safe, if a sin.ng gale came while they wcre empty. They are very high 1 , ana exposed to wind from every 'quarter I think tney oulltl to i,e wired down to the stand ; 'ti.e cost would bic small, and the risk of a costly accident lessened. Repairs.—A general overhaul of sash-cords, blinds and rollers is necessary- The door of the coal shed requires le-hanying, and the playground and spoutings require attention.
