Gifts for the Contingents.
(BY TELEGBAFH.) Wellington, August 16. Lieutenant Colonel Robin, writing from Pretoria under the date of .June 28th, asks Colonel Pole Penton to acknowledge the receipt of the following gifts to the contingents in South Africa : Draft of £69 from Captain Home, Wairoa Mounted Infantry, to be given to the men from the Wairoa Mounted Infantry : £BG First Contingent, £BB Second Contingent. This has been done. Please thank Captain Home. The ladies of Springburn and Jjtaveiy ('per Miss Baird, Ashburton) for draft of £2-"> as for First Contingent men. This will be distributed as chance offers. On account of the splitting up of alt the forces here by the force of circum stances, it is not an easy matter to distribute it, but we wilt do the best we can.
