THAT PIG-STYE.

[To The Editor.] Sir, —In reference to the discussion about a pig-stye at the recent meetirg of the Hastings Borough Council, I wish to claim the ownership of the stye and the pig 3 it contains, especially as the breed is a strain from the pure Irish canaries. About six years ago I erected a stye on the back boundary of my three acre section, five chains from Havelock, Selweod and Terrace roads. Three years since aMr Bolt got permission to erect a whare 10 x 20 from the debris of a house belonging to the owner of the section (Mrs Rowlands) which was burnt. This section contains 1-h acres and has two frontages. At the time of building the whare it was pointed out to Mr Bolt that he was erecting it in the wrong place, away from water and drainage, and a long distance from the old site. He, however, persisted in doing so, and now reports my pig-stye as a nuisance, having deliberately built bis whare and dog kennel up On Saturday I received a notice v®smove the stye. Now I claim thatffls is most unfair. The Borough Official should have given notice to Mr Bolt to shift his whare and dog kennel, which could be done in a few hours by Mr Brausch on his trolley. When I"' first built my pig-stye I placed it so that it was impossible for it to annoy anyone. By now moving it I must place it in close proximity to either Selwood or Terrace roads where it may prove a nuisance, or so near my house 4 as to be objectionable. In conclusion I may mention that the Inspector of Nuisances, I believe, reported the pigstye m very well kept.—l am, &e., X. A. iUvis,
