The match between the Australian Eleven and a team representing the rest of Australia began to-day. The weather was fine with a cool breeze. Mackenzie stood out of the second team.

Darling, who captained the Australian Eleven, won the toss, and accompanied by Iredale opened the batting, M'Kibbin and Pye bowling. The play was very slow till near 1 o'clock, when Darling livening up with great strokesj after piling up three dozen gav6 Graham a chance, which was brilliantly taken. Hill came next. Both played brilliant cricket, Iredale displaying great form. With his score at 86 he attempted a run. Hill did not respond, and the Sydneyite lost his wicket. Gregory filled the vacancy, and the < game again began slow. Hill after the partnership had put on another 27, drove one hard to Pye, who held it. Worrall succeeded him, and was missed by M'Kibbin next ball. Gregory, who played a camped game, tipped Coningham into the wicketkeeper's hands. Noble followed. Worrall, who knocked up his score in good style, gave a catch to Trumper in the slips. M'Leod followed. The Sydneyite compiled his score slowly. M'Leod, who shaped well, was caught by Johns after getting 17- Kelly came next. The score mounted slowly owing to the excellent bowling and fielding. At 14 Kelly was missed by Graham.
