TWENTY-FIRST ANNUAL MEETING.

MR A. A. GEORGE AND THE HASTINGS LODGE.

The twenty-first annual meeting of the Hawke's Bay District of Oddfellows, 1.0.0. F., M.U., was commenced this morning. Twenty-five delegates and district officers were present. The Grandmaster's address and executive's report were received and adopted. The following resolution from Loyal Woodville Lodge was carried : " That, with a view to allow members who were initiated prior to 1898 to obtain benefits in accordance with the scale as adopted in schedule No. 8 at the last district meeting, it be an instruction to the district management committee to obtain actuarial information as to the amounts such members ought to pay to the sick and funeral fund of their respective lodges for the purpose of obtaining such benefits." On the motion of Bro. Krougb, seconded by Bro. Collit, the following resolution was carried unanimously : " That the Loyal Hastings Lodge having expunged the name of A. A. George from the Merit Board of their Lodge, for writing aud circulating letters slandering the character of their Permanent Secretary, Bro. W. G. Martin, Provincial Deputy Grand Master of the Hawke's Bay District, and as this meeting cannot proceed against the said A. A. George, under Paragraph 4 of General Rule 103, owing to him being no longer a member of the Order, having forfeited his Membership through non-payment of contributions," be it resolved by this meeting : —" That the name of A. A. George, at present on the District Merit Board as Past Provincial Grand Master, be expunged from the said District Merit Board."

Bro. Rowe Fennell, Lodge-Book Examiner, reported having'txamined the accounts of the Hastings, Dannevirke, Porangahau, Abbotsford and Ruahine Lodges, and reported them satisfactory excepting two Lodges. Bro. W. G. Martin, of the Hastings Lodge, was elected and installed to the position of Provincial Grand Master by P.P.tj.M. Bro. Cooper. Bro. Mclntyre, of Dannevirke, was appointed Deputy Grand Master, and the following were elected District Lodge Auditors:—Bros. Bull, Williamson, and Cooper. Bro.
