It is reported that the battery at Provisa, a seaport of Albania, was fired on by the gunboat Actium. The Greek Ambassador at Constantinople has demanded an explanation from the Porte. The Cretan Assembly has published a protest against the injustice of the tribute they have been called upon to pay Turkey. (Received Dec. 28, 9.48 a.m.) Constantinople, Dec. 27. The Foreign Ambassadors have virtually agreed to a new scheme of autonomy for Crete, involving the withdrawal of the Turkish troops from the Island.
