The secretary of the Surrey Cricket Club says that an Australian cricket team would be welcomed in 1899. Mr S. H. The Hawke's Bay and Taranaki teams met at Napier on Christmas and Boxing Days, the match ending in an easy win for the home team by an innings and 37 runs. Taranaki responded with 124 and 172. Fannin was by far the most successful bowler for the home team. The Canterbury v. Auckland match began at Auckland yesterday. The Canterbury made 182 runs in their first innings, to which Auckland replied with 90. In their second innings, Canterbury havo lost tour wickets for 81 runs.
