Wellington Mayoralty.

MR BLAIR INSTALLED. [By Tklegkaph.] (Per Press Association.) "Wellington', This day. Mr ,T. R. Blair was installed as Mayor at noon to-day. He said he was satisfied that no one had ever given more time, attention or ability to the duties of the chair than Mr Bell, the retiring Mayor. He himself desired to work in harmony with the Council. A Mayor should not try to run the whole business of the City, but be an impartial officer. lie took this opportunity of thanking the citizens for the honor done him.

Councillor Eraser, on behalf of the Council, presented Mr Bell with a silver salver. Mr Bell had, he said, not only been an excellent Mayor, but an admirable Chairman. Mr Bell said he was much touched by the gift, of which he had had no notice. He thought it advantageous that the Chief Magistrate of the City should have more leisure than he had, and hoped that Mr Blair would meet uo such difficulties as beset him (Mr Bell) when he found the drainage funds had run out and he had to obtain

Parliamentary authority, during the short session, to procure more money. He mentioned that he agreed to excise the purchase of Miramar and the cutting up of the Town Belt from the Empowering Bill now before the Legislative C'ouocil
