BEAUTIFUL WEATHEB. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, This day. It is a beautiful day for the excursion to Woodvillc for the opening of through communication between Wellington and Napier. 'GUARDS VAN DERAILED. Pahiatua, This day. The demonstration to celebrate the opening of the last section of railway between Napier and Wellington via Wairarapa takes place at Woodville this afternoon. A special express train left Wellington this morning with crowds of excursionists including a large number of members of both Houses of Legislature. The weather is magnificent,. When nearing Pahiatua the train, travelling at a good speed, ran over some obstruction on the line, causing the hind wheels of the guard's van to leave the rails. The train had to be stopped and the van left behind. The incident caused considerable consternation aboard the train.
