DRUIDS' LODGE.
INSTALLATION AND SOCIAL. The half-yearly meeting of the Carlton Lodge of Druids was held at the Oddfellows' Hall, Hastings, last night, when the officers fov the ensuing year were elected and installed. The District President, Bro. Yarrell, the Past District President, Bro. Tankard, and P.A. Bro. McGrath acted as installing masters. Tho ceremony of installation, by special permission, was open to the public. The following officers were elected: Junior Past Arch, Bro. C. Hughes ; A.D., Bro. McKay; V.A.D., Bro. Pollen ; Secretary, Bro. J. W. Hodd ; Treas., Bro. Cowlrick; Inside Guardian, Bro. Willis; Outside Guardian, Bro. Bishop; A.D.8., Bros. Caulton and Banks; V.A.D.8., Bros. Stock and Sutherland. After the business of the Lodge had been concluded the members, together with about seventy friends, assembled in the Lodge room and spent the remainder of the evening very sociably, When all present were seated Bro. Yarrell, the District President, in a most impressive manner, installed the newly, elected officers, referring to the responsible task they had undertaken and urging them to carry out their trust in such a manner as to do credit to the order of Druidism. The ceremony was an imposing one, the eloquent remarks of Bro. Yarrell being listened to with rapt attention. Bro. Jlughes occupied the>»?&w,ir until Bro. McKay was installed,-a*® aftec the installation the newly-elected A.D. presided. The meeting afterwards resolved itself into harmony, when dancing was indulged in and songs rendered as follows : " Ada's Serenade," Mr Brandon (encored) ; " Arrali, Go On,' Mrs Head ; " Phoebe Morel," Mr Bickerstaff;" Grace Darling," j Mi," Tfead; "Beer," Mr Bishop; "The ! Green Grass Grows," a laughing ucng apd j several other humorous items, Mr Bran- | don. A capital address on Druidism was delivered by Bro. A. McGrath, of the Albion Lodge, about twenty-five of the members of which were present. The success of the gathering was largely due to Bro.
