A Case of Mistaken Identity.
A PECULIAR INCIDENT. (By Telegraph.) (Per Press Association , Christchurch, This day. An unfortunate case cropped up in the S.M. Court yesterday. A young man, Alexander Cameron, was arrested at Marton in conniption with an affiliation case. HewaswPfcv\ght before the Court on Monday atlfl remanded as the prosecutor lived in the country. Being a stranger he was unable to find the necessary bail, and had to put the night in gaol. On being confronted with bis alleged victim she at once said she had never seen him before, and he was immediately discharged. Counsel said it was a hard case, as Cameron had to leave his business and spend money and was now stranded. Mr Beetham, S.M., said he was sorry he could do nothing for the man. It seemed to him that Cameron should be returned to Marton free of expense, and he advised an application to Inspector Broham for assistance in that way.
