Contrary to expectation, the United A completely collapsed, and after the downfall of Hughes and Wilson, who resumed the game for the visitors with the score at 118 inns for two wickets, a " rot" set in nnd only 12 runs were by the remaining six wickets. The innings closed for l(itS, or 21 runs ahead of the County's first- attempt. Fannin's leg breaks proved too much for the batsmen, baffling one after another, and he secured eight out of nine wickets. The County in their second innings quickly wiped off the deficiency, and the score now stands at 229 runs for seven wickets. Nelson was again responsible for a big score, and completely mastered the bowling. His score of 107 (not not), although not entirely free from mistakes. was an excellent exhibition. Lewis a steady and useful game for 88. Holland (14) and White (17) compiled their runs by good cricket, while Fannin (21) gave the bowlers a merry five minutes.
