The body of Miss Arbuthnot, entombed through an accident in the Alps 30 years ago, has been recovered. M. Lole, editor of a native paper published at Satara, in the BombayPresidency, was found guilty of seditious writing and sentenced to nine months' imprisonment. Sir "William Vernon Harcourt, speaking at Kirkcaldie, ridiculed the projected increase of the army, and protested against the policy of the Government on the Indian frontier. Nov. 28. Sturrock, who was arrested at Melbourne, has been sentenced to ten years' imprisonment for embezzling moneys of the British Linen Company's Bank, Kilmarnock. Mr Labouchere has obtained an injunction restraining Henry Hess, editor of the South African Critic, from publishing Mr Labouchere's letters to the late George Augustus Sala. The cotton operatives, who agreed to submit the question of a reduction of wages to arbitration, have rejected the terms of arbitration proposed by the employers, and have given notice to go on strike on Dec. 13. Altogether 50 commissioned and 200 non-commissioned officers have been sent out to West Africa to command 4000 troops in the Lagos hinterland. Athens, Nov. 28.
