The headquarters of the expedition on the north-western froniier of India has been transferred to Bago, which was recently captured by BrigadierGeneral Symons. The forces under Brigadier-General Westinaeott and (_ ulonel Gedhee expect to reach Fort Bara by December 15, the object being to effect a junction with Peshawur. A column for permanent occupation is not intended. General Lockbart requires the Afridis to restore the riiles and other Government property stolen by them, and to pay 50,000 rupees line, as well as to have their tribal allowances from the Indian Government forfeited.
