WET WEATHER
(By Telegraph.)
(Per Press Association.)
Christchckch, This day
For the first time for many years the Peiple's Day at the A. and P. Show turned out wet. Rain set in last eight and continued steadily till 10 o'clock this morning when it ceased, and the sun shone at intervals for about an hour, then it became overcast and at the hour of telegraphing there is every appearance of more showers. The rain will have a material effect on the attendance, which it was expected, under favorable circumstances, would have topped any previous record.
Tbe streets are crowded with people, and the drags are leaving fully loaded every few ruinates for the show grounds. The Governor and party proceeded to the Magdala Asylum this morning and His Excellency was presented with an address from the Catholics of Christchnreh.
His Excellency will be entertained at lnnch this afternoon at the show grounds.
