Russian Invitation to Englishmen.
x\n invitation has just been received from General Kouropatkine, Gover-nor-General of all the Asiatic provinces, by Mr Woolrych, Perowne College, Worcester, to arrange for the visit to Central Asia of a party of Englishmen next November. The Minister of War has granted full use of the military railway from the shores of the Caspian through Astrabad, Bokhara, and Merv to Samarcand, free of the usual restrictions which prevent its being used by foreigners. Count Rottenmund is accompanying the party, and is arranging for receptions to be given to the party by the Governor-General at Astrabad, and by the Ameer of Bokhara at Bokhara. At the receptions gentlemen are requested to appear in uniform and ladies in Court dress. A special escort of Cossacks will be provided in Merv, and in other towns balls and dinners are being arranged in honor of the visitors. The Russian authorities have expressed a hope that a number of English ladies will join _ the party, which, however, must be strictly limited in number.
