This outbreak was followed by a case of scarletfever, but as the patient, a child, was isolated and almost convalescent, the health officer passed the vessel this morning, considering there was no necessity to enforce the quarantine regulations.

The members of the I3isle3' rifle team and the remaining members of the New Zealand mounted contingent arrived in Wellington by the Mataura yesterday morning. Mr Bell, the Mayor, congratulated them upon the way they had upheld the honor of the colony, and at his call they received three hearty cheers from the crowd assembled 011 the wharf. Major Soinerville bricily replied on behalf of the team. Private Hawthorne, Wellington City Eirles, was singled out for an especially hearty welcome, being shouldered high off the steamer and taken to a carriage, which was dragged by a number of his comrades in the company.
