(By Telegjr.\fh.) (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, This day. A brutal assault was committed on a Chinaman last night opposite the Caversham Hotel. He received a violent blow on the mouth arid when fo'ind by the police was lying in a pool of blood. He was taken to the hospital where it was found he was [in « condition. A man named Eugene Charles Mackill was charged at the Police Court this morning with the assault, but the Chinaman is in such a serious condition that he was remanded.
