THE RETURNS COMING IN, (Per Prats Association. —' '<>i»jrnjh!.) Melbourne, Oct. 14. The majority of the election returns are incomplete, but so far as are shown have gone generally in favor of the Liberal party, Ministerialists polling heavily. Mr Duncan Gillies, ex-Ageni-Geueral, was elected for Toorak by a large majority. The Labor party lose two members in Messrs Prendergast and Barrett. The returns to hand point in the direction of the old members being largely returned. This day. All the Ministers have been returned. As nearly all the candidates expressed themselves content with the Turner Government the new 7 Assembly presents a curious feature in having for the present at any rate merely a nominal opkosition. Amongst the defeated candidates are Sir Graham Berry (the Speaker of the Assembly) and Robert Harper White. Mr Murray Smith (an apostle of Freetrade) was returned with a much increased majority. Sir Bryan O'Loughlan, who for some years represented Port Fairy, returns to the arena, having defeated the late member. Thirteen members of the late Parliament lost their seats and nine candidates forfeited their deposit.
