Ungentlemanly Councillors.

JOSTLING A FEMALE REPRESENTATIVE.

(By Telegraph)

(/ Press Association.) Wellington, This day. At the Petone Borough Council last evening Mrs Raby, recently elected as representative for one of the wards in the borough, complained of the treatment she received at the hands of some of the male members at the last meeting of the Council. She said two of them attempted to drive her out of the chamber by smoking, and also brutally dragged her from the door. One of the Councillors complained of the language used by Mrs Raby, who said the councillors were no better than a lot of pigs. The Mayor said Mrs Raby, to some extent, brought the trouble on herself, and other Councillors denied she was roughly pushed from the door.
