(Per Press Association.)
Auckland, Oct. 11. At the Aoroa boarding house, Northern Wairoa, Florenco Margaret Rentier, aged seven, daughter of Henry Clay Eenner, was lighting a fire, when her night-dress took fire, and she died of the burns. At the inquest it transpired that her father heard screams and ran out at once. Deceased was in the backyard, her night-dress being on fire. Her brother Tommy had got one arm round her neck and was putting the fire out with the other. Deceased told her father she ran outside to get at a tub of water, and she ran away from her brother for fear of setting him on fire. Thoma? Henry Eenner, aged 10, said he ran after his sister, but she went away and said, "Don't come near me Tommy, you'll be burnt." One of his hands was badly burned in beating the flames. Witness had his arm in a sling, and the coroner said he was a brave little fellow and had done all he could. The jury returned a verdict that death resulted from shock.
