Fire Brigade Matters.

The Captain of the Fire Brigade has informed tiie committee that he had an interview with the Premier, who promised to introduce legislation in the "direction of compelling insurance companies to pay their share of the cost of brigades. The Fire Brigade Committee of the City Council intends to recommend that all firemen's houses he connected with electric alarms at a cost of £IOO. The question of increasing their pay stands over till the close of the financial year, when if the Mayor's financial proposals are carried the brigade will be recognised.
