Wangaxui, Sept. 29
The only case on the criminal calendar at the Supreme Cfturt— in which Joseph Ingley, of Palmcrston North, was charged with breaches of the Bankruptcy Act, with not having kept prcper books, and with having contracted debts without reasonable expectation of being able to pay them—was concluded to-day, the jury returning a verdict of not guilty.
The civil list includes a case in which Captain John Watt, of the Wanganui Rifles, seeks to recover Customs duties amounting to £55 levied on new uniforms recently imported—a case of considerable interest to the volunteers throughout the colony. Captain James Watt, of the Alexandra Cavalry, is for the plaintiff, Mr S. Fitzherbert defending.
