Accidents and Fatalities.

(Per JPresg Association.) Christchubch, Sept. 27. James Young, a jockey, who was injured at the recent Amberley steeplechase, died at the hospital this evening.

A nine-year-old boy named James Lucas had his thigh fractured on Friday last at Palmerston through falling off a tree. During a recent football match in the Waikato a player named Edwards received such a terrific kick in the stomach that he is not expected to recover. The Hunterville correspondent of the Rangitikei Advocate wires as follows :—The body of the girl Hilda Northcott, who has been reported missing from Poukiore since August 2nd, was this morning discovered in the bush behind the Poukiore schoolhouse. The body was in a state of decomposition. Constable Black and Dr. Smith have left for the scene of the discovery with a conveyance to bring the body to Hunterville for the inquest. No further particulars are known at present.
