Accidents and Fatalities.
(By Telegraph). (Per Press Association.) Wanganui, This day. The body of Captain Anderson, drowned a fortnight ago, was found a mile below Pipiriki 60 miles above Wanganui yesterday. A well known old settler named William York 09 died on Saturday. Dunedin, Sept. 25. The body of a man found in the Clutha river, near Beaumont's, is supposed to be that of Drysdale, missing higher up the river for some time.
A well-sinker named W. Hatcher was' descending a well shaft at Logarfc, near Stratford, a day or two ago, when the roller of the windlass came out of its bearings and Hatcher was dropped about 20 feet. The force of the fall was so great that he crashed through a staging erected just above the water-line. Singular to say Hatcher escaped with a few scratches and bruises, and no broken bones.
