TRACK TRIFLES. By Lancer. A thick nii.st enveloped the track at 5 .'SO this morning, when the starcatchers got to work. Though the plough was as heavy as the Derby course at Epsom some dingdong work was done. Heavenly Twin, Brennan, Alionorn, Dottrel, and Ilobart dashed over six furlongs racing and finished in the order written. It uas a slashing so ; uid there was little to choose between them. Victoria Cross and Capt. Russell's filly Ekaterini Passaropoulo did a four furlong flutter, the latter having the best of it. Straybird and Petroline did two rounds at a solid pace. The colt by Dreadnought —Watercolor, Rainbow, Pistol Grip, and Puketoi did two rounds, the last one at top, Pistol Grip and the Dreadnought colt finishing a long way in front. Stockville did two rounds at half pace, and once round slow. Rangipunehu did three strong half pace rounds. C'laudie sprinted fast about four furlongs. The filly covers a lot of ground in her stride but is very green yet and runs wide at the turns. Golden Plover, looking very big and well, did twice round at useful exercise. The mare by Ingomar—-Perfume did useful work. Missfire and Co-ur de Lion did a mile and a-haif, a good working gallop. First Blood was sent twice round at half and three-quarter pace. Flaneur worked on the sand. Coologue cantered twice round the plough. Daphne put in three serviceable rounds at a good pace. This mare is getting nice and fit. Josetiua was sweated in rugs round the sand track. Tire, Primula, and Douglas did a fast mile and a-half. It was a solid gallop and they finished together. Each had a bit in hand and only their trainers can know how each ran. Primula will run a great mare, and I must confess I like Douglas. Tire; spite of all his disappointing races, must soon pick up a race. All Percy Martin's youngsters were at work. Wakelvn and the bay colt by Jet D'Eau ran a strong mile and a-half—a real good run. Ayeha did two rounds working gallop. The filly by Lochiel in Hope's stable ran about three furlongs fast. She has a very taking style. MISCELLANEOUS PaRS. By Lancer. H.8.-J.C. ' generals ' to-night. Suggested nomenclature:—Colt by Dreadnought—Water Color: Pearl Cream; mare by Ingomar—Perfume : Demimonde or Myrrha ; filly by Lochiel—Princess of Lome : All for Lome. I would recommend all turf scribes to give Captain Russell's filly a nomdc papier. E.P. would answer well, for after Joan of Arc the fair Greek heroine, Ekaterini Passaropoulo, is only the Brummagem material, electro plate. At Waipawa Butler is training Forecast ■ (Forerunner —Iphegenia), and Robinson has charge of Barshot, Blarney, and a halfbrother to Barshot, also two full sisters to Blarney. C'HRISTCHURCH NOTES. i (Per Press Association.) Chbistchurch, This day. Training operations are actively proceeding at Riccarton in view of the New Zealand Cup meeting, and early work has commenced in earnest. The Canterbury two-year-t»lds are regarded as a very mediocre lot and the prizes for youngsters should go to other provinces. It is fully expected that there will be big nominations for the handicaps that close to-morrow. Several entries sre looked for from the North Island,
