Fears have been engendered among the rebels by the despatch of a punitive force against them, which has overawed the tribesmen for the time being, and it is unlikely that a further rising will take place. The Mollah of Iladda has dispersed his forces at Mohmandon on the British frontier, having declined to join the revolt. The Ameer's Afghanistan's troops are disposing of the disaffected tribesmen and preventing them joining the rebels, thus crippling the Mollahs' power. A council of Afridis held at Tirah refused Mollah Akbar's urgent appeal to attack Jamriul or Faman. The council replied that the crops were ready to cut and the Afridis were not able to muster a large gathering while at present as the consequence of fighting there was mourning in every house.
