Hastings Bowling Club.
The annual general meeting of the Bowling Club was held in O'Reilly's Hotel last night. Mr W. C. Maddison in the chair and subsequently Mr E. Newbigin presided. There were present Messsrs Dennett, Haszard, Tyertnan, Mcllroy, Hodd, Land, Ellis, McLeod, Ebbett, O'Reilly, Reynolds, Newman, Clarke, Darvill, Thompson, King and Yickers (Hon. Secretary). The Treasurer's report showed a credit balance at the bank of £29 Is 6d, with £3 12s 8d on hand. Allowing for outstanding accounts the club possessed a credit of £2O. A letter was received from the secretary of the Northern Bowling Association asking if Mr Ballinger was still to continue delegate for Hastings and it was decided to reappoint him. Mr G. Ellis, on behalf of the ground committee, reported that the ground had been top dressed, sown and sodded, and in all a sum of £7 17s 3d was expended which was money well invested. Arrangements were made for procuring and forwarding a pair of bowls to Wellington to Mr J. S. D'Emden in token of the esteem in which he was held by the members. The foliowing new members were elected ;—Messrs C. Hughes, Albert Fail, C. A. Fitzßoy, A. L. D. Fraser, Captain Russell, Henry Bishop, W. B. Jones, G. W. Wright, J. Alexander, and G. 11. Roach. Messrs Ellison and Robjohns were elected visiting members. Votes of thanks were accorded to the retiring president (Mr Maddison), vice-president (Mr Newbigin), treasurer (Mr Reynolds), secretary (Mr G. H. Yickers), and the committee. Mr Yickers, hon. secretary, was presented with a complimentary card of membership. , The election of officers and committee resulted as follows :—President, Mr E. Newbigin ; vice-president, Mr S. T. Haszard ; hon. treasurer, Mr J. Reynolds ; hon. secretary, Mr G. H. Yickers ; committee, the guarantors (Messrs Maddison, Newbigin, Knight, Reynolds, and Tyerman), with Messrs Clarke, Land, Ellis, and Thompson ; grcund committee, Messrs Ellis and Maddison ; selection and handicap committee, Messrs Clark, and Haszard. It was recommended to the incoming committee to erect a pavilion in conjunction with the green for the opening of the season. A cordial vote of thanks was passed to Mr Ellis for his efforts in connection with the Jubilee ball. Mr W. C. Maddison gave notice that he would move at the next general meeting that the club be registered under the Societies Act. It was resolved that the season be opened the Wednesday after the show, and that all subscriptions be paid by December 31st. Ifeis concluded the business,
