The military authorities at Simla have ordered the British troops to be concentrated at Mahanui and not advance, as a great force of Afridis hold possession of Kohat Pass. This order countermands one previously given to Colonel L. C Gordon to force the pass. London, August 31. The Times says there is a general belief in official circles that the Ameer is not directly concerned in the tribal rising.
