+ THE ORAKZAIS RAIDING SUMANA. AN EDITOR RECEIVES A LIFE SENTENCE. CONCENTRATING TROOPS AT MAHANUI. (Pe r Press Axsori at ion.— Calcutta, August 30. Later reports show tbe losses of the native levies holding Indian frontier forts have been exaggerated. The majority of them sufficiently resisted the treacherous overtures and attacks of the rebels to save their good names before eventually joining the tribesmen. The Orakzaisare raiding the vicinity of Humana, and have burned two police posts, a bazaar, and a school. August 31. Keshallar, the editor of the native paper Materni, published at Satara, in the Bombay Presidency, has been sentenced to transportation for life for writing seditious articles headed " Preparations for becoming independent-." Hormalkar, the publisher of the paper, was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment. The military authorities at Simla have ordered the British troops to be concentrated at Mahanui and not advance, as a great force of Afridis hold possession of Kohat Pass. This order countermands one previously given to Colonel L. C Gordon to force the pass. London, August 31. The Times says there is a general belief in official circles that the Ameer is not directly concerned in the tribal rising.
