An Important Shipping Case.
(By Telegraph.) (Per Press Association.) Invercargill, This day. An important case affecting the shipping interests was before Magistrate Poynton. W. S. Masterton and the Westport Coal Company claim £4O demurrage on the brigantine Sarah and Mary. Several steamers that arrived at a later date were given preference in loading. The defence claimed was that this was the custom of the port. The decision was reserved, but whatever way it goes it is likely to be taken to a higher Court.
