[By Gipsy Grand.] The thoroughbred horse Somnus, by Tradueer from that rirlu good turf mntron —Hammock, is announced to star 1 she season in Hawke's Bay. Not only is Komnus one <if the finest looking iav.ses in the land. but his progeny can f;-iHop fast over all distances, lmdu, a daughter of Sonnms. in lier racing days was the best mare of her time in this colony, rtnd some of her performances, notably—three Wanganui Clips, two Egmont Cups, and the Burke Memorial Handicap, brands her as a good 'mi. 'J'he Artist, too, is another standing advertisement for the Tradueer horse. The son of Lady Artist, besides winning several good races, annexed the C'.J.C. Metropolitan Handicap two seasons ago, Having behind him several well-per-formed racehorses. The names of several other first-class horses by Somnus could be quoted but it is hardly necessary. Breeders in this district should not miss the opportunity of securing a strain of the grand old Tradueer blood. (For continuation of reading matter see Fourth Pat/e.)
