VICTORIAN POLITICS.

THE BUDGET STATEMENT. IMPROVED CONDITION OF THE FINANCE. f Per Press Association. — Copyriyht. / Melbourne, This day. Sir George Turner delivered his financial stanement last night. There was a crowded house. It was his first appearance since his return and he was loudly cheered and was congratulated by the leader of the Opposition. The statement showed that the year closed with a debit balance of £196,000. The deficiency, however, is only apparent as quarter of a million had been expended in the redemption of treasury bonds. Taking these into consideration the year closed with an actual nett surplus of ±'53.700. He did not think it would be necessary to float a loan during the year.
