FURTHER ATTACKS

THREE BRITISH FORTS TAKEN. RELIEF PARTIES DESPATCHED Calcutta, August 24. Simla reports that the rebellious Afridas have attacked two forts garrisoned near Khyber Pass. Assistance from the Company's British infantry, and a detachment of dragoons and artillery have been sent to defend the forts. Other bodies of Afridas having entered the Khyber Pass the artillery was despatched to shell the mouth of the Pass. The entire Afridas are obeying the directions of Akah Khel Mullan, one ' of their priests, who is reported to have captured two forts. Three of the principal chiefs of Beloochistan have been arrested on suspicion of intriguing against the British. Later reports state that the British forts Manaha 20 miles south of Manwapur, and Ali Mijed have been captured. A column under Brigadier-General Westmacott and the Indian staff corps is hurrying to the relief of Mandha.
