Colonel Goldney's column, starting at dawn, succeeded in surprising the Pathons asleep and captured their camp. The enemy tied in a panic, thus enabling Colonel Meiklejohn to relieve the garrison at Chakdara without encountering any opposition. During the siege the garrison inflicted enormous losses in expelling desperate assaults by the tribesmen. The Rebel tribesmen now threatening the British garrison at Mi ran shah have raised a force with 300 camels. British reinforcements have been sent to the relief of the garrison. !
