Wellington-, July 30. The Tasmania.was insured for about £27,250 but the amount may have boen increased since the recent alterations. The custom is to insure to half the value and take half the risk themselves. The Alliance has £3OOO, the United £IOOO, and the Standard £SOO. It is believed that the Thames and Mersey have £2OOO. The others are unknown. There is scarcely any hope of salvage. Auckland, July 30. Mr Kent, the local agent of the Alliance Company, states that his Company has a line on the Tasmania, but the total loss will only be £3OOO.
