In his evidence before the Conciliation Board yesterday Dr \\ hitton stated that a miner's advocation has a strong tendencv to develop heart and lung in cases of persons whe jfc a pruii-]rosition to those complaint*. Ladder climbing in mir.es induced a dilated heart. He frequently ordered a patient absteintion from underground work. He considered the death rate from consumption high for the district. The witnesses examined yesterday were called by the Miners Association. The companies' side will be heard to-day. It is expected that the case will not conclude till to-night.
