Captain Edwin wired this afternoon :—• Wind between north-west and west and south at all places. Barometer fall everywhere. Heavy westerly gales with rain and cold weather are to be expected in all parts of the country, and snow on all high country in the South Island. Very low pressure was reported at Lyttelton at 8 a.m., the barometer there reading 28-90, the lowest since 6th January, 1896.
