GENERAL ITEMS. / Per Press At —C»i>i/ri ; fht. , Sydney, July 15. In the Legislative Assembly the clauses up to 23 of the Federation Bill have been adopted. The only important amendment provides for the proportional representation of States in the Senate ; the minimum number of senators from each State is fixed at three, and the minimum number comprising the Senate at 40; and for dividing the States into electorates, each electorate to return one senator. The western miners' ballot favors a strike. This day. The Western miners will not issue strike notices but seek to remedy their grievances through the different lodges.
