The Living Wage.
(B* Telegraph). (Per P/ csv Association.) Tijiaku, This day. At the Borough Council last night an attempt was made to affirm the principle of a " living wage" before opening tenders for a three years' contract for the work of maintaining the water-race, but only three of the councillors voted for it. Several tenders were received, and making allowances for certain advantages the workmen have, the average shaved that the workmen tendering reOTQEed their wage at £1 17s 4d a week.
