A resident of Newcastle has received a letter from a friend in Staffordshire, England, acquainted with Butler's family, which states that Butler's real name is John Newman. The condemned man has three brothers holding responsible positions in England. Beisfiane, This day. In consequence of Queensland joining the other colonies iu the arrangement with the Eastern Extension Cable Company the rates between Queensland and London have been reduced to 5s Id, but the colony does not commit herself to a subsidy for a duplicate cable or the payment of arrears due under the agreement between the company and the other colonies.
