Accidents and Fatalities.

[By Telegkaph.] {Per Press Association.) Timaru, This day. A farmer named Thos. Mackie, near Fairlie, was found dead last night from a gunshot wound. He was out after hares and the gun evidently went off when being dragged through a wire fence. Wellington, July 8. J. Stewart, of the firm of Stewart and Co., timber merchants, died suddenly to-night. He had tea by himself, and was found shortly after sitting iu a chair dead. He had been 82 years in Wellington, and took a great interest formerly in rowing matters. He was mainly instrumental in bringing out Hearne, the champion oarsman. Deceased was a single man and aged 63.
