A Horse Attacks Lady Cyclists.

An extraordinary scene was witnessed on the Dumbarton road, near Glasgow, the other week. Three young ladies who were returning to the City from Clydebank by bicycle suddenly found themselves confronting a horse galloping upon them. Turning aside to let it pass they were terrified to discover that it had no intention of doing so. On the contrary, as soon as it reached them it began to show its teeth and then tried to seize them. The ladies made an effort to run past it, but were unsuccessful. The animal then began to chase them, and twice leapt over the bicycles, which were now lying on the road, in its endeavors to catch hold of them. Thoroughly alarmed they dashed to the roadside hedge, and through this two of them successfully scrambled. 11l luck befell the third, however. The animal caught her hat ere she could get beneath, and tore it from her head, then tried to lift her by the jacket. This being tightlyfitting, however, it could not fix its teeth in it, and before it could do further injury some countrymen approached, drove it away with sticks, and took it home to its owner, a neighboring farmer.
