The conference of pastoralists to consider the reduction of produce freights to London was convened for July Bth, hut as this is the date of the Jockey Clubs' conference it will probably be postponed till Friday. The winter so far has been extremely mild, almost unseasonable, a great contrast to last winter, which was fairly rainy and almost windless. So far there has been little rain but constant warm winds. One result is that the best wool clip for fifteen years is expected in the Wairarapa. Chemis has written to Mr C. Mills, M.H.R., thanking him and others for their exertions on his behalf. Since his release Chemis has received telegrams and letters of congratulation from all parts of the colony. Dune dix, This day. In the suit brought by the Bank of New Zealand against the Guthrie and Allied Company the Bank claims on behalf of the Bank and other debenture holders a declaration that the debentures have the first charge on the whole of the assets of the four companies and to have the charge enforced by sale or otherwise under order of the Court.
